Thinking about becoming a librarian or just wondering what I do? I found this information on the U.S. Dept. of Labor site about librarians and our job prospects.
ILL is still really slow right now. I have been told that it should pick up next month. I sure hope so. It is amazing how exhausting doing nothing can be.
I am not too happy with my summer course. It isn't what I expected and many of the students are extremely lazy. I just don't understand why you would pay money for a class and then not do the readings or homework. I want something for my money and time. Otherwise, it is just a waste.
Ranganathan's Five Laws of Library Science:
- Books are for use.
- Every book its reader.
- Every reader his book.
- Save the time of the reader.
- The library is a growing organism.
Added laws:
- Libraries serve humanity.
- Respect all forms by which knowledge is communicated.
- Use technology intelligently to enhance service.
- Protect free access to knowledge.
- Honor the past and create the future.
