Out of Sorts

Sorry about the long delay--really. I have a good excuse though. I am now 18 weeks pregnant, so I have been a bit preoccupied with all the wonderful morning sickness and other.
We have still been slowly working on the house. We finally have some overhead lights in the living/dining room. The new door and transom should be coming soon. Next will be the nursery. Awwwww!
What else has happened?
We went to another Philly Roller Girls bout and saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in concert at the Electric Factory. We also saw TV on the Radio at the Trocadero, but that was several months back.
We have attended several BBQs and hosted one as well. I am very excited about our upcoming long weekend in Lancaster County. We are renting a cottage and bringing the dogs along. This might be the last little getaway before the little one gets here!

Yeah, we are still alive. The weather has been so great, we have been busy sprucing up the back patio. We love Greensgrow, our neighborhood nursery/CSA. We signed up for a half-share this year, so we are really excited. I was afraid to do a full-share, because I don't want anything to go to waste.

Anyway, I hope everyone out there is enjoying the nice weather. The in-laws are in town this weekend, so I will post next week with some new pics.

Ah, after three weeks of horrible weather (rain, sleet, and snow) we are up to 85 today. Okay, that is way too damn hot right now. Where are my 60s or even 70s. Where oh where is spring?

Anyway, this past weekend was really nice, so we visited the Philadelphia Book Festival. It was really nice. M had never been inside the Central Library so I took him for a little tour. His favorite was the Rare Books Collection, which includes Dickens' stuffed raven, Grip. This bird was supposedly the inspiration for Poe's The Raven.

Yesterday, we ran errands and had a few friends over for a barbecue. I mean, we have to use our wonderful large patio. Oh, I am so happy to have an outdoor space!

Adding the wind chill, it is about -3 F outside today. Yowza! I went out briefly to get some produce from the Reading Terminal this morning and hurried back inside.

The renovation of the living/dining room is coming along. We had someone patch and skim-coat all the walls. We also have a carpenter working on the framing. It is coming along nicely. I just want it to be finished! I am soooo tired of living upstairs.

renovations, not so much

I have had several friends ask, "How's the renovation coming?". Well, very slowly. We really haven't done anything since our vacation in November. I recently got a promotion and was transferred to another branch. M has been flying to TX nearly every week, working on a project. We just haven't had the time. At this point, we are considering just hiring someone to finish up the living room--at least get the walls fixed. We can do the painting. It's the patching, drywalling, and sanding that I am not sure I can handle right now.

I learned to crochet about 2 months ago, and I wouldn't say I am nuts about it, I do enjoy it while watching television and riding public transit. This is of course when I am not reading.

This scarf is being donated to the Red Scarf Project. It will be included in gift baskets that are sent to foster children attending college.

Okay, so I had never heard of this Pollyanna thing until we moved to Philly. In the South, we called it Secret Santa. Where the hell did someone named Pollyanna come in?
