I have decided that I cannot read the Onion while at work. I almost spit out my coffee after reading the horoscopes--they're my favorite.
I forgot to mention that Micah and I witnessed the Olympic Torch being carried down the main street in our neighborhood. I guess it is a once-in-a-lifetime kinda thing, but was really boring and uneventful.
Work is still pretty slow and boring right now. I think things should pick up next month. My summer class, Libraries & the Internet, starts up on the 6th of July. I have already gotten my textbooks and they seem pretty interesting.
My friend Anna informed me that she has a new job in Long Island, so she will be driving to class. This means I have a ride home this fall semester. Yeah! I won't have to wait for the bus.
For those who are not in NYC, there have been several subway shootings this month. One was at my neighborhood station. Some people seem to be getting freaked out about the whole thing, like there are people with guns randomly shooting bystanders. I think the model who was shot at Times Square was actually random. The papers don't think she was the actual target. That is a little scary. The victim at the Steinway shooting was the CEO of Drake Business School, which recently closed down. There were many layoffs and some financial irregularities at the school. Not random. The shooting last night in Chelsea did not seem random to me either. Witnesses said the shooter(s)seem to know the victim.
This all being said, I feel as safe today as I did yesterday.
